Cashing in on chaos
VIRGIN ATLANTIC is cashing in on the chaos that surrounded the opening of Heathrow's Terminal 5 in the spring, with Upper Class passenger numbers up by 10 per cent in April.
Furthermore, 98 per cent of the carrier's customers using the recently opened Upper Class Wing facility, which provides a private "security corridor" from limo drop-off point to the Virgin Clubhouse in Terminal 3, rated it either as excellent or good. Furthermore, there was a 100 per cent satisfaction level relating to the friendliness of Virgin's staff manning the new facility.
"The success of the Upper Class Wing has meant some passengers have transferred from their limos to the Clubhouse in four to five minutes, which must be a record for any airport worldwide," says Steve Ridgway, Virgin Atlantic's chief executive.
