Air passengers flying through Barcelona could face further delays as security staff take industrial action from Friday (August 4).
Staff at El Prat airport are due to go on strike on Fridays, Sundays and Mondays throughout the rest of the month.
The move comes on top of new EU immigration checks that are causing delays of up to four hours across major European airports.
Easyjet said in a statement to passengers: “We will be operating our flying programme as usual, however please be aware there may be longer security queues in Barcelona during this time.
“We strongly recommend that you allow plenty of time for your journey through the airport to be able to get to the gate on time.”
Staff working for security firm Eulen will be taking a series of four “partial” one-hour stoppages throughout each of the strike days.
The employees have also voted to take “full-scale” industrial action beginning on August 14 or 15.
