SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT continues with its mini-airline war, British Airways Connect withdrawing Glasgow, mainly a leisure route, and continuing with both the Edinburgh and Manchester services.
Whilst the route has been underperforming the imminent arrival of competing airline FlyBe Embraer 195 must be a major factor in BA's thinking.
FlyBe is increasing services with up to six return flights daily with a limited service at the weekend. In the meantime Southampton - Amsterdam offers ten return flights every day (again with reduced services on Saturday and Sunday) from the start of the winter season on 29 October, three airlines chasing the market.
It remains to be seen whether the small BAA-owned south coast airport can sustain such coverage.
