Qatar Airways is set to launch direct flights between Doha and Gatwick from 22 May.
The double-daily service is part of the airline’s extended partnership with British Airways and will be operated by the B787 Dreamliner. The aircraft features 22 seats in Business class in a 1-2-1 configuration and 232 in Economy.
Qatar Airways ceased flying to Gatwick in 2011 for ‘commercial reasons’, but told Business Traveller at ITB in Berlin that it decided to pick the route back up as a result of its renewed partnership with BA.
The announcement came as the airline released the details of 16 new routes.
Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, said: “We are tremendously excited to add Gatwick as an additional gateway to London, thereby offering our passengers even more choice and convenience when travelling to this magnificent city. As our sixth gateway into the UK, Gatwick will serve as a key new destination for business and leisure travellers alike.”
