American Express and Hilton have partnered to develop an American Express Hilton Honors co-branded credit card portfolio in the US.
American Express says the four cards were designed based on consumer and small business research, which used feedback from existing Hilton Honors members. The portfolio includes a basic Hilton Honors American Express card, as well as the Ascend, Aspire and Business options.
Card holders can collect Hilton Honors points at hotels around the world in the Hilton portfolio, as well as a selection of US grocery stores, restaurants and petrol stations. Users can also earn one weekend night reward after spending a certain amount (dependent on the level of card).
The Business card also allows users to earn points on US mobile phone services and purchases for shipping, as well as flights booked directly with airlines or via amextravel.com and car rentals booked directly with providers. It also gives businesses ten free Priority Pass Lounge passes at airports.
Hilton Honors credit cards were formerly provided by Citi, which American Express has agreed to purchase. Hilton says any existing card holders will be transferred to American Express after all changes are finalised in January 2018.
