Movenpick hotels and resorts has announced plans for three new hotels inThailand, weeks after opening its third UAE property.
The Swiss-based hotel group plans to open the three new properties in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui.
Movenpick currently runs one hotel in Thailand, in Phuket, which opened in 2006.
Jean Gabriel Pérès, president and ceo of Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts, said: "Our expansion in Thailand supports our development strategy by clusters, which has proven to be successful in many countries such as Jordan, Egypt, Germany and Switzerland."
Mövenpick Hotel & Residences Bangkok, Mövenpick Suriwongse Hotel Chiang Mai and the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Mae Nam Beach Koh Samui are due to open over the next three years.
The Bangkok property, due to open by 2014, will be located in Phayathai and will have 266 rooms and suites, plus 100 residences.
A fifth Movenpick hotel is currently under development in Jomtien, near Pattaya. The Mövenpick White Sand Beach Resort will open by 2013.
The 396-room Ibn Battuta Gate Dubai opened on October 1, with three floors dedicated to business travellers.
