Avis Budget Group has announced a multi-year deal that will add 10,000 Toyota vehicles to Avis Car Rental’s fleet of connected cars.
Avis says the services provided through Toyota’s Mobility Services Platform (MSPF) will benefit customers through a more enhanced and personalised experience, as well as the company in the form of improved informatics, fleet management and operational efficiency.
The group says the deal is part of its commitment to operating a fully connected fleet by 2020, allowing customers to use the Avis mobile app to access important information about their rental, change or update their vehicle and locate their car. Since its launch in 2016, usage of the app has grown to more than one million transactions from more than 350,000 customers and has increased customer satisfaction ratings by 20 per cent, according to the group.
Avis says the Toyota vehicles are expected to be available this September as 2019 car models are introduced to its fleet.
Arthur Orduna, executive vice president and chief innovation officer at Avis Budget Group, said: “As connected car technology continues to evolve in the auto industry, we are rapidly adapting our fleet and rolling this technology out to our locations. These advancements improve our fleet management capabilities, which enables us to provide Fleet Management as a Service (FMaaS), while also enhancing the customer experience with time savings and mobile app integration. We’re a step closer to a fully connected fleet and ultimately moving towards a new future for our business.”
