Air Berlin expands flights to North America

Air Berlin is to expand its transatlantic operations from Dusseldorf with new flights to Toronto and Chicago from next summer.

The carrier will operate four flights per week from Dusseldorf to Toronto on May 1, followed on May 2 by the launch of a Dusseldorf-Chicago route, which will run five times per week.

The Toronto route will be the first Canadian route for Air Berlin as the carrier plans to offer around 100 long-haul flights per week.

Air Berlin has already announced plans to boost US services for winter 2017-18, with flights to San Francisco operating over winter for the first time, and services to Orlando being extended to year-round.

The carrier said it had increased its long-haul services from Dusseldorf by 13 per cent compared to last year, with a total of 57 weekly flights between Dusseldorf and the US.
