The International Air Carrier Association: A non-profit organisaion representing 34 airlines or 750 aircraft. Founded in 1971.


International Airlines Group - the parent company of British Airways and Spain's Iberia which was created by the merger of the two carriers in 2010


The International Air Transport Association: IATA represents and serves the airline industry, with a membership made up of around 230 airlines. The association seeks to raise awareness of how aviation benefits the economy, fight for airline's interests and ensure industry regulations are sensible. IATA helps its members directly by offering advice on reducing costs while improving efficiency and on improving safety standards. It also provides professional support in the form of publications, training and consulting.


The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO): A UN agency which acts as the global forum for civil aviation. Its main goal is to achieve safe, secure and sustainable development of civil aviation.

A government-backed common technical standard for smart travel which means that transport operators throughout the UK can link up so passengers only have to use one secure payment ‘smart’ card no matter what bus, train or route they are using.
