FCm Travel Solutions, owned by Australian-headquartered Flight Centre Limited, has established itself in the Middle East by opening an office in Dubai.
Identified in FCm”s growth plan as a strategic market offering ”significant business potential,” the move differs from most TMC expansions in that it is a company-owned operation rather than an alliance with an existing local Travel Management Company: An agency which manages business travel for a company..
”This is a small and strategic investment that reflects our policy of extending the FCm Travel Solutions network to key international markets that are important to our local, regional and global clients,” said global executive general manager, Anthony Grigson.
The additional office will complement FCm”s Indian operation, which began in 2005 when Flight Centre acquired India”s Friends Globe Travels Limited (FGTL) and now offers travel management services in more than 12 locations across the country.
”Working with our existing partner in the Middle East, our Dubai office will have the capability to manage client needs across all key areas of this region”to meet the corporate travel requirements of local businesses and international clients with commercial interests in this important commercial hub,” added Grigson.
However, FCm is keen to stress that much of the Dubai office”s management and expertise will be from local sources, with FCm India general manager, Rahul Nath, extending his responsibilities to include Dubai.
”Our Dubai team includes local travel experts with a very strong understanding of the local market, culture and industry regulations,” said Grigson.
