Skyteam has announced Shanghai Airlines will join the alliance, under the wings of parent company China Eastern.
Shanghai-based China Eastern is already in the process of joining Skyteam, with the ceremony due to take place next year.
Shanghai Airlines will also join in 2011, said Skyteam, at the same time as its parent company.
Marie-Joseph Malé, Skyteam’s managing director, said: “The addition of the combined networks of China Eastern and Shanghai Airlines gives new opportunities for Skyteam customers to access cities in all regions of China using Shanghai’s Pudong and Hongqiao airports.”
Taipei-based China Airlines is also set to join Skyteam next year, which, with existing member China Southern, brings the total number of members in the region to four.
