Piyasvasti Amranand has been awarded the Chevalier de La Legion d’Honneur.

The medal was presented by Gildas Le Lidec, the ambassador of France to Thailand, on behalf of the French president Nicolas Sarkozy.

The honours were given in recognition of Amranand’s “goodwill, support and long-standing relationship with France”.

Thai Airways has been serving Paris for more than 35 years – the inaugural Bangkok flight was on November 4, 1975.

Amranand said: “I am most honoured to receive this award and look forward to continuing the successful relationship with France.”
