HRS has recruited a hotel specialist to help grow the number of independent properties the company works with.

Robert Hornman joined as senior vice-president, hotel solutions EMEA, in January and told BBT that many hotels still did not fully understand the corporate market.

Hornman has held a variety of senior roles across the hospitality sector, including managing director and CEO of WorldHotels, as well as vice-president Germany, central Europe and eastern countries at Sofitel.

“I’m here to reinforce the hotel relationship. We provide high-quality room nights. Even if a hotel has good occupancy, we can drive incremental business. We deal with 35 per cent of the Fortune 500 companies worldwide.

“Hotels have had to deal with so much disruption. It’s about education; I want to enhance the dialogue. Independent hotels are important to us.

“Many hotels don’t understand the corporate market, or how to leverage it. They tend to see it as a distribution challenge, not a segment challenge.”
