Budget hotel brand Premier Inn is set to launch in Qatar, after signing a joint venture agreement with local company Dohaland Hospitality.
The 200-room Premier Inn hotel will open in Doha Education City.
Darroch Crawford, Managing Director of Premier Inn in the Middle East said, “The offering we propose, with the price bracket it includes, allows us to be accessible to wider and largely unserviced segment of the market.
“This partnership lends further weight to our commitment to the region and our intention to be the largest and best provider of value for money hotels in the region.”
Qatar will be the brand’s third location in the United Arab Emirates, after Dubai, where there are currently three Premier Inn hotels, and Abu Dhabi, where two are currently under development.
Abdul Aziz Al-Emadi, CEO of Dohaland Hospitality, said: “We believe there is current need in the market for quality budget hotels in Doha, our partnership with a globally recognised brand such as Premier Inn will address this segment in the market.”
Dohaland Hospitality aims to expand its brand portfolio further, said Al-Emadi, with further additions “in the near future”.
The company has already announced an agreement with Mandarin Oriental to operate and manage a new luxury city centre hotel and serviced apartments. Part of the Musheireb – Heart of Doha development, it is due to be built by 2014.
