Thai Airways has today confirmed that it will postpone the introduction of the A380 service on the Bangkok to Heathrow route.
The superjumbo had been scheduled to operate one of Thai’s daily flights with effect from December 1. But the carrier now says that the A380 will not serve the London route until the end of October next year – a delay of 11 months.
The airline said in a statement: “Thai Airways regrets to announce that due to important technical modifications, the A380 will not be able to commence its operation on the Heathrow- Bangkok route as planned from December 1, 2013. Tentative operational date has been set on October 30, 2014.”
In place of the rostered A380, Thai will be operating one of its retrofitted B747s with the second daily flight being operated by a more modern A340-600.
