Gatwick airport has listed vacancies for more than 1,200 jobs, including 400 for aircraft servicing teams.

The airport says the recruitment drive is in place to prepare for what it believes could be its busiest summer on record.

Gatwick saw a 5.2 per cent increase in passenger numbers in 2017 and has reported traffic growth every month so far this year.

While 800 of the newly listed vacancies are in the airport’s retail and restaurant portfolio, recruitment is under way for 400 jobs for ground handling agents, check-in assistants and baggage handlers. Suppliers hiring new staff include DHL, Menzies, Airline Services, dnata and Swissport.
