Hilton has announced the signing of a franchise agreement with the Gantry Group, a joint venture between Black Friar Holdings and a £1.1 billion investor, to bring the Curio Collection brand to a new property in Stratford, east London.
The London Gantry, set to open in 2020, will comprise an 18-storey hotel with 285 guestrooms situated opposite Stratford train station and Westfield Stratford City. Facilities at the property will include bar and restaurant spaces, as well as a sky bar with views across the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Design studio ICA is behind the architectural concept for the hotel, while the £77 million build contract has been awarded to construction company Ardmore, which was behind projects such as The Ned and the Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square. The property joins the Curio Collection’s London portfolio, which includes the Trafalgar St James and the Lincoln Plaza London – due to open later this year.
Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president of development, EMEA, at Hilton, said: “Stratford is London’s fastest growing business and leisure district, and a major contributor to the capital’s economic growth, with 125,000 new jobs forecast to be created in east London by 2030.”
