Fattal Hotel Group is planning a second new Leonardo Hotels property in Manchester after it acquired a site on Adair Street following its purchase of the Midland Hotel in October.
Scheduled to be completed in early 2021, the new hotel will be operated by Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK and Ireland under the Leonardo brand. The 110,000 sqft property will feature 275 bedrooms, a gym and a bar and restaurant.
Earlier this year, Manchester City Council approved a Strategic Regeneration Framework (SRF) for the area around the hotel, with the aim of redeveloping that corner of the city into an urban quarter with a mix of commercial and residential uses.
This is the latest in a series of acquisitions and new property announcements from Fattal, which purchased the Midland Hotel in Manchester and the four-star Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton, which have both joined the Leonardo portfolio.
The group also announced plans to invest £32 million in the existing Jurys Inn Edinburgh, as well as the development of a new 131-room NYX Hotel by Leonardo Hotels on the neighbouring site and 31 residential units on the 1.2-acre Jeffrey Street site.
Fattal’s Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels brands currently operate 40 hotels in the UK, four in Ireland and one in Prague. The group bought Jurys Inn in December 2017 for £800 million.
Jason Carruthers, MD of Leonardo and Jurys Inn Hotels UK and Ireland, commented: “We are delighted to have secure this prime new location as we continue to increase our offering in the UK. The opportunity to expand into a vibrant and growing city like Manchester is a great one, and this move serves to strengthen our portfolio and network enormously. We look forward to beginning works as soon as possible, and welcoming our first guests to the hotel.”
