A new mobile phone alert system to keep track of travellers was launched by FCm Travel Solutions at the Business Travel Show in Birmingham.
The system, called IRRIDIS, allows corporate clients to check on staff on trips. The client can send text messages to the IRRIDIS server quoting a password and either a country or destination name.
The system will respond by telling the corporate how many travellers it has in the destination and how many are due to go there.
If there is a major incident, clients receive an alert to a nominated mobile number.
Alex Woodworth, FCm director account management, said: “We believe we will be the first travel management company to launch this kind of ‘push and pull’ tracking and alert service in the UK.
“Security is high on our clients’ list of priorities these days and we work closely with them to find solutions to meet not only their commercial requirements, but also the need for their employees to travel as safely as possible.”
