London rail passengers warned to expect continued delays

Crowded Victoria station

Following chaos on Southern and Thameslink services yesterday, National Rail says things should return to normal later today, but passengers have been warned delays and last-minute cancellations could continue for most of the morning.

National Rail advised against travel on all Southern routes and Thameslink services between Wimbledon and Luton via Victoria yesterday due to a severe fault with the signalling system at Streatham Common.

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) said there had been a complete loss of signalling power on three separate supplies on Wednesday night. National Rail now says the system is working as normal, but delays of up to 30 minutes can be expected until at least 1000.
