Luxury resort company Aman has chosen architect Jean-Michel Gathy to design its third US property in New York’s Crown building.
Located on Fifth Avenue overlooking Central Park, Aman New York will undergo extensive renovation works. Gathy, principal designer at Denniston, will helm the project, which will see the historic building transformed into a resort featuring 83 guest rooms and suites, three dining venues, a spa and 20 private homes.
Gathy’s initial designs portray a 10th-floor, double-height Sky Lobby with Asian influences, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool (main picture) and a wraparound garden terrace on the 10th floor that will feature a bar and year-round dining.
Gathy has been at the forefront of several other Aman projects, including Aman Canal Grande in Venice and Aman Summer Palace in Beijing.
