China Eastern Airlines will begin flights between Gatwick and Shanghai Pu Dong from 7 December.

The airline will operate the flights three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays on board an Airbus A330-200. Services will depart Gatwick at around noon and arrive in Shanghai at 0730 local time the following day. Return flights leave Shanghai at 0145 and land at 0630 local time.

The new flight will add to China Eastern’s existing daily service between Heathrow and Shanghai.

Starting from such a strong position gives this new route every chance of success, as it will be popular with business passengers travelling between the two economic centres, as well as leisure passengers keen to sample the excitement of China’s largest city.”
