Hilton Worldwide has signed a deal to convert a Seville hotel into a Waldorf Astoria.
Hacienda La Boticaria will become the Waldorf Astoria Sevilla this summer.
The property will be Spain’s first under the high-end Waldorf Astoria brand.
Located 20 minutes from the city centre and from San Pablo airport, the hotel has 133 bedrooms and is surrounded by 40 acres of private land.
The property has one of Europe’s largest hotel spa facilities and an on-site equestrian centre, which is home to 16 thoroughbred Spanish horses.
Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton’s senior VP of development in Europe and Africa, said: “The development of the Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts brand is really gaining momentum.”
Seville Waldorf Astoria will be the fourth property to open under the brand in Europe, after the Rome Cavalieri, Trianon Palace Versailles and London Syon Park, which will open later this month.
A further three Waldorf Astorias are under development in Europe, including Berlin, due to open this year, and Jerusalem, slated for a 2012 launch.
