Turkish Airlines has launched direct flights between Gatwick and the Turkish cosmopolitan capital of Ankara, with the inaugural service launching on 9 January.
The flights will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays, departing Gatwick at 2135 and arriving at 0435 local time. The return service leaves Ankara at 1915 and lands at 2035 local time.
Turkish Airlines is the only carrier to operate direct flights to Ankara. It serves four other UK airports – Heathrow, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester.
Celal Baykal, Turkish Airlines’ general manager in London (pictured above with Gatwick CCO Guy Stephenson), commented: “Today marks an important day in Turkish Airlines’ history here in the UK, as we commence flights to our capital city Ankara. This new route is being launched in direct response to increased demand from our customers across the country, and is further evidence of our commitment to exceeding passenger needs. We look forward to welcoming people from across the UK on our new route and [widening] their world with Turkish Airlines.”
