Etihad will deploy a Boeing 787 Dreamliner on its daily Washington DC service from March 15.
It will be the first time Etihad has used a Dreamliner on a US route, marking the debut of its latest First, Business and Economy class service.
The Abu Dhabi to Washington DC service started in March 2013, which the airline said has attracted strong demand from business travellers.
The Dreamliner offers eight First Suites, 28 Business and 199 Economy class seats.
Etihad Airways CEO James Hogan, said: “As the most technologically advanced aircraft in its class, the Boeing 787 will reduce the operating costs and carbon emissions on our Washington DC route and provide maximum efficiency and reliability.”
Earlier this year, Etihad announced that all passengers travelling to the US from Abu Dhabi will benefit from US immigration pre-clearance.
Washington is one of six destinations served by Etihad in the US, alongside San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas Fort Worth, Chicago and New York.
