Major deal for Deutsche Telekom: TUI Travel PLC awards pan-European telecommunications contract to T-Systems

TUI Travel PLC, the world’s leading leisure travel company, has awarded T Systems a five-year network outsourcing contract for pan-European telecommunications. With this major deal, Deutsche Telekom’s corporate customer unit will take on end-to-end responsibility for providing integrated voice, data and mobile services to TUI Travel’s major brands in the Mainstream sector.
This pan-European initiative establishes unified communications within the business and supports TUI Travel’s strategic synergy programme. It will allow TUI Travel to modernise its telecommunications, implement common business processes and significantly reduce costs.

We selected T-Systems to integrate and enhance our telecommunications services as they have the proven technological and global expertise to manage a project of this scope and size. This project will transform our communication capabilities, enable greater collaboration between TUI colleagues, deliver better customer service and provide significant cost savings,” said Jim Mann, Chief Information Officer, TUI Travel PLC.
The contract with TUI Travel follows a series of major deal announcements for T Systems including those with BP, Philips and Deutsche Post DHL. “The contract we have just signed is another important milestone in our international growth strategy. And it confirms that T Systems is the number one choice for globally operating corporations based in Europe,” notes Reinhard Clemens, Member of Deutsche Telekom’s Board of Management and CEO of T-Systems.
Over the next five years, T-Systems will move TUI Travel’s current voice networks onto a single, homogenous platform and rationalise the supplier base. In parallel, the market leading collaboration tool, Microsoft Office Communicator, will also be rolled out to more than 25,000 TUI colleagues across UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Switzerland.
These new capabilities will make it possible to deliver better customer service. For instance, in retail outlets, the new tools will help provide immediate responses to detailed enquiries, making it easier for customers to take speedier decisions about travel bookings.
