Portman Travel, one of the UK’s leading independent agencies, has signed a deal with Germany’s national train operator Deutsche Bahn.
The agreement gives the TMC access to the operator’s e-ticketing and ticket on departure system for DB destinations throughout Germany.
Portman already has a similar deal with SNCF, the French national train operator.
The Travel Management Company: An agency which manages business travel for a company., a member of the woprldwide Radius agency network, said the deal was a “significant” step in its aim of developing a global rail network for its customers.
To handle the new access to DB, Portman specialists in its “Centre of Excellence” in Tralee, Ireland, have undergone extra training.
John Dick, Portman’s senior vp of operations, said: “European rail is increasingly becoming a more important part of Portman’s service offering as our customers want us to arrange travel for all aspects of their trip.
“We are also servicing customers in various European locations in addition to the UK and it is critical we can offer them a full range of local products and services.”
