Accident causes BA delays at Heathrow

BA owner IAG has called on the CAA to allow third parties to run terminals at Heathrow

A serious accident involving two vehicles on the airfield at Heathrow is causing delays to some British Airways flights.

According to the BBC, two drivers were involved in the crash, which took place on the taxiway at around 0600 this morning. Reports say one of the drivers has passed away as a result of his injuries.

BA has since announced delays to some of its departing flights, though the airfield remains open. Heathrow said on Twitter that it would “work to minimise disruption to our passengers’ journeys”.

A BA spokesperson said several flights have been delayed by the crash, but the airline is “doing all we can to ensure they will be able to depart as soon as possible”.

Passengers are advised to check the status of their flight with BA.
