Low-cost airline Eurowings will offer a new service at Hamburg airport that will allow passengers to use the self-drop luggage check-in service in Terminal 1.
Ten self-drop kiosks were installed at the airport’s Terminal 1 in November 2017, while four stations were also set up for automated check-in. This allows passengers to check in their luggage regardless of desk opening times, usually up to 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
Eurowings says the automated process can save passengers time on their journey through the airport.
Katrin Rieger, VP of customer experience and product at Eurowings, said: “Using state-of-the-art, fully automated luggage check-in kiosks, Eurowings passengers can check in their luggage themselves quickly and securely. The kiosks make it faster for passengers to check in their luggage than at the check-in desk, so in future they’ll also be more flexible when departing.
Rieger says the self-drop luggage check-in desks used by Eurowings at other airports have been popular with passengers.
