Flybe has launched a direct flight between Doncaster Sheffield airport and Belfast with a journey time of less than one hour.
The regional carrier will offer five flights per week on the route.
Doncaster Sheffield now offers more than 55 destinations across Europe. The airport is soon to benefit from a direct link from the M18 with the Great Yorkshire Way and could be made more accessible by the proposed East Coast Mainline link, which could be in place by 2024.
Chris Harcombe, aviation development director at Doncaster Sheffield airport, commented: “We are really excited to start this Belfast route, especially as we will see the Great Yorkshire Way motorway link road right to the airport fully open at the end of this week, making travelling easier for our passengers even more convenient. The new route to Belfast offers more choice for our passengers and we are thrilled to be working closely with Flybe to put on routes that our customers want to see.”
