Travellers are being warned that there are several strikes planned throughout the rest of April affecting air and rail services in Spain, particularly over the Easter holiday.

Airport workers throughout Spain will be on strike on 21 and 24 April, bringing the potential for delays. Passengers are being advised to allow additional time to get through airports and to check the status of their flight with their airline.

Meanwhile, a strike by security workers at Madrid Barajas airport that began on 12 April is causing delays for passenger journeys to boarding gates, so travellers are advised to allow extra time when flying from the hub. It is unclear when this strike will end, according to a warning from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

RENFE Spanish railway company workers are striking today and potentially again on 24 April. Train cancellations in the country include some long-distance high-speed services.

Pilots for Spanish regional carrier Air Nostrum were due to stage a strike from 22 to 24 April, but this has now been called off.
