Hilton has signed a franchise agreement with the Cairn Group to open the Doubletree by Hilton Harrogate in the former Majestic Hotel.
The property will be Hilton’s first in Harrogate and will open at the end of 2019 following a £15 million refurbishment project.
Once the work is complete, the hotel will feature 170 guest rooms, fitness facilities, a spa and pool. There will also be six boardrooms and nine conference and events suites with space for up to 500 delegates.
Food and beverage facilities will include a champagne bar and restaurant, lounge bar, terrace and private dining room.
Aneil Handa, director of the Cairn Group, said: “This conversion follows the successful transition of two of our Cairn Group hotels to the Doubletree by Hilton brand – Doubletree by Hilton Newcastle International airport and Doubletree by Hilton Edinburgh – Queensferry Crossing, and represents an exciting opportunity for Harrogate and the Cairn Group.”
Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president of development for EMEA at Hilton, added: “A Victorian landmark, this hotel is a fantastic addition to our Doubletree by Hilton portfolio. The hotel has been a paragon of Harrogate hospitality for more than 100 years and, following its renovation, will become the first choice for hotel accommodation in the upmarket spa town.”
