Air Italy, formerly known as Meridiana, has appointed Air Berlin alumnus Neil Mills as its chief operations officer with immediate effect.
Mills was formerly the chief planning and strategy officer at the now-dissolved Air Berlin, where he worked with the board and shareholders to restructure the company. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the aviation industry, starting with Easyjet, where he progressed through a number of senior roles.
He then moved to Flydubai, where he was chief financial officer, before he became chief executive officer of India’s Spicejet. Before joining Air Berlin, he was chief executive advisor at Philippine Airlines Group.
In the newly created position at Air Italy, Mills will be responsible for coordinating and directing the functions of the company.
Marco Rigotti, deputy chief executive chairman of Air Italy, commented: “We warmly welcome Neil in our team. The new Air Italy project is quickly progressing and thanks to Neil we will optimise the commercial, operational and financial performance of the airline, always bearing in mind the long-term strategic goals we want to achieve.”
