Grand Central Rail has introduced e-ticketing as a purchase option for its customers, allowing them to buy tickets online and display them on their mobile or tablet device.

The company says the move will save passengers time, as they will no longer have to queue at stations or wait for tickets to be delivered. When they pay for their fare online, customers will receive an email with a downloadable PDF that features a barcode scanned by crew and ticket gates.

The service is now available on desktop and mobile devices and is valid for advance fares, available up to two hours prior to departure.

Richard McClean, MD of Grand Central Rail, said: “We are always striving to improve our customer experience and we listen to our passengers. Not only is [e-ticketing] environmentally friendly, but it offers our passengers a fast and efficient way of storing their ticket.”
