Low-cost carrier Wizz Air has received delivery of its fourth dedicated aircraft based at Luton airport and has also launched direct flights to the Albanian capital of Tirana.
The new Airbus is one of eight to be deployed to Luton by the airline this year. It is part of a wider investment to add 21 aircraft to Wizz Air’s European fleet, which the carrier says will help it add 700 departures per week to its schedule.
By the end of 2018, Wizz Air plans to run flights to 47 destinations in 23 countries from Luton, increasing capacity in the UK by 14 per cent.
Flights to Tirana will operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Owain Jones, chief corporate officer at Wizz Air, said: “Wizz continues to expand its low-fare network across Europe like never before, and the allocation of a fourth aircraft to our base at Luton once again shows our dedication to our UK customers.”
