Flybe is to increase capacity on its Birmingham-Glasgow route by serving all flights with Embraer E195 aircraft.
The regional carrier is the only scheduled airline currently serving the Birmingham-Glasgow route, with a mixture of Dash 8 Q400 aircraft and the Embraer E195.
Flybe has now made the decision to base an E195 aircraft at Glasgow, with all frequencies on the Glasgow-Birmingham route being served by the Embraer jet, configured with 118 seats in a 2-2 layout.
The airline says this has resulted in an additional 70,000 seats now being on sale on the route.
Flybe is also set to open a new executive lounge at Glasgow airport “in the next few months”.
Simon Lilley, Flybe’s director of marketing, said: “Our Glasgow to Birmingham service is particularly popular with business passengers and now not only do they have a schedule that offers a choice of flights that are ideal for convenient day returns but also a new jet service.
"We are continually striving to provide a better flying experience for our passengers and our decision to base one of our larger jet aircraft at Glasgow is just one extra way in which we are delivering on that commitment.”
