Finnair will offer its hand baggage-only fares on services to the UK and Ireland from next month.
Light tickets, which are Finnair’s lowest types of fare, will be available on the Oneworld member’s entire network in Europe and the Middle East from May 5, with the exception of Russian flights.
Tomi Hanninen, Finnair’s vice president of revenue management and pricing, said: “Since we introduced Light fares on domestic, Scandinavian and Baltic routes last March, we have seen a positive reaction from customers who tend to travel without checked baggage, particularly from travellers on short trips.”
Light tickets are not available on Finnair’s long-haul intercontinental flights.
Passengers can pay for checked baggage either in advance or at the airport. Buying in advance is priced at €15 per bag per flight if booked up to two hours before departure through finnair.com, or €30 per bag per flight if paying at the airport.
