US TMC Travel and Transport has announced the acquisition of global company Radius Travel.
Travel and Transport is a founding member of the Radius Travel network, which is today made up of more than 100 agencies worldwide.
The company says the acquisition will deliver “global data consolidation” and “greater buying power”, which will benefit customers.
The deal follows Travel and Transport’s 2017 acquisition of London-based TMC Statesman Travel. Previous purchases include Ultramar Travel Management and an investment in Derpart in Germany and Switzerland, as well as the opening of a Travel and Transport office in Lyon.
Travel and Transport also launched a big data solutions company called DVI in 2017.
Shannon Hyland, current president and CEO of Radius Travel, will assume the role of senior vice president of global services for Travel and Transport. Kieran Hartwell, currently CCO, has been promoted to president of Radius Travel.
Radius Travel will continue to operate out of its global headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland.
Kevin O’Malley, CEO of Travel and Transport, said: “This acquisition will harness the power of Travel and Transport, with the global reach of Radius and its network partners. This is a significant component of our global strategy going forward.”
Tim Fleming, president and COO of Travel and Transport and Radius Travel chairman, commented: “When we began the process of consolidating ownership of Radius Travel in 2011, we viewed it from the perspective of how best to serve the clients of Radius Travel. Now, as a singularly owned global network, we will strengthen the customer experience by expanding our collective offerings focused on customer service, technology and operations.”
