More than a quarter (28 per cent) of travel managers have said they will look to the services of a TMC to protect their staff’s personal data after the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect in May.

New research from ABTA also shows almost a third of travel managers don’t know what steps they’ll be taking to protect their travellers’ data, but 90 per cent said a TMC’s policy and processes around data is very important.

The latest figures come after ABTA warned the travel industry to take steps now to limit the risk of being fined up to €20 million or 4 per cent of annual turnover once GDPR comes into force.
