Amadeus has become the first GDS to offer Spanish hotel reservation company Restel’s portfolio of properties around the world.

The agreement will see Restel’s 150,000 listed properties made available to book through the Amadeus GDS, allowing travel agencies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa to incorporate Restel bookings alongside flights and other products in a single itinerary.

Amadeus says the partnership represents growth of around 20 per cent in its hotel availability.

Restel is part of the Hotusa Group, an alliance of hotel chains in Spain that offers property operation and aggregation services. The company’s content includes both independents and major chains.

Peter Waters, EVP, hotels, mobility and insurance at Amadeus, said: “Travellers are seeking a more personalised and comprehensive service from travel sellers that caters for their unique needs. Providing the most extensive range of content and highly efficient tools for booking, servicing and payment processes is at the centre of our strategy for hotel distribution. This agreement means we have further extended the range of hotels we can offer while maintaining our high standards of integration and ease of use.”
