Thai Airways has increased its free baggage allowances by 10kg in all classes.

The airline said the new policy will help it “increase competitiveness and service level”.

The new baggage allowance increase will not apply to flights to and from the US.

First class passengers can now check-in 50kg of baggage, while Silk class passengers will see their allowance increase to 30kg. Royal Orchid Plus members are also entitled to additional baggage allowance based on their respective member status.

The airline said most sport equipment such as golf bags, scuba equipment etc can be checked included into the free of charge baggage allowance. In addition, Thai Airways will continue to offer special rates for excess baggage, e.g. bicycles.
