Hotel prices have fallen in major UK cities this month including a drop of 16 per cent in London.

In comparison to July average London rates fell to £143 from £171 last month and down from £169 in the same period last year, data from Trivago Hotel Price Index showed.

This is the same trend across the UK with hotel prices in Manchester down 17 per cent to an average of £104, Brighton dropped 15 per cent to £112 and Leeds is down 14 per cent to £86.

Trivago head of communications for UK and Ireland, Denise Bartlett, said it’s “very unusual” to see the large price difference and “will be interesting to see if the downward trend continues in September”.
