Star Alliance has updated its Round the World product, allowing passengers to stop at only two destinations for at least 24 hours rather than the previously required three stops.
Round the World fares offer a value for money proposition, according to Star Alliance. Passengers planning a multi-destination trip covering up to 39,000 miles with at least one transatlantic and one transpacific crossing can book flights under a single itinerary, allowing them to stop in at least two destinations for more than 24 hours each without having to keep track of several bookings.
Previously, Star Alliance required a minimum of three stops to qualify for a Round the World fare. According to the alliance, the change increases the number of potential itineraries available under the product. Itineraries include tickets for several member airlines under a single booking. Passengers can also accrue miles in any of the member carrier frequent flyer programmes, which may count toward earning Star Alliance Gold or Silver status and can be redeemed for rewards such as free flights, upgrades or hotel stays.
Round the World journeys can be booked via the Star Alliance Book & Fly tool on its website.
