TransPennine Express passengers can now benefit from a personalised onboard journey information service after the rail operator partnered with GoMedia.
Using the operator’s GoMedia-developed onboard infotainment system Exstream, passengers can see updated arrival and departure times, as well as platform numbers for connecting trains. They can also book onward travel through third-party apps.
The journey information system comes in addition to Exstream’s existing library of movies, TV boxsets and online magazines and newspapers.
The partnership means customers travelling to Manchester airport via a TransPennine Express service will be able to view flight information, including arrivals and departure details and notifications of delays. Those travelling from Middlesbrough to London will also be able to view live updates on their connection at York.
TransPennine Expresses’ announcement comes after GoMedia partnered with Moses Mobility to provide rail passengers with an onboard tool to book taxis while on the train.
Darren Higgins, commercial director at TransPennine Express, commented: “Exstream is already really popular with our customers and the introduction of enhanced, personalised journey information offers another valuable reason for customers to download and engage with it.”

The solution shows passengers key information relevant to them, such as platform numbers, updated arrival and departure times and at-destination info that is constantly accessible through the onboard wifi.”

Exstream can be accessed from a personal device, including smartphones, tablets and laptops through the TransPennine Express app if it is downloaded prior to travelling. It is available on both iOS and Android devices.
