Online event management specialist Cvent is to expand in Europe with the opening of an office in London.

The US-based company, which provides automated tools to manage events such as an online registration service, has been operating in Europe for five years but the move to open a UK office is the next stage of its expansion plans.

Brian Pirkle (pictured), who has taken on the role of manager of Cvent’s London office, said: “The Cvent platform has been leveraged to book a large variety of meetings and events in Europe as the region has increasingly embraced booking automation.

“Investing in Europe by opening a London office and hiring a dedicated team to reach more organisers and expand our roster of suppliers will position us to seize the enormous growth opportunity the market presents.”

Cvent said it already has more than 250 UK-based clients including Accenture, Barclays and Nielsen but now the company wants to “aggressively grow the business internationally”.

All European operations will now be managed from the London office rather than the US.
