Scottish carrier Loganair has signed an interline agreement that will create connections from northern Scotland to Turkish Airlines’ route network.

The partnership will see passengers on Loganair’s Highlands and Islands network to book a single ticket to multiple international destinations with a connection through Edinburgh airport.

According to Scottish paper The Herald, this saves customers up to £78 on Air Passenger Duty charges.

Loganair has recently signed a number of agreements with Air France KLM, Emirates and Thomas Cook Airlines as part of its Better Connected programme. The agreements allow passengers to travel on one ticket and check their baggage through to their final destination.

Kay Ryan, commercial director at Loganair, said: “This is a deal with one of the biggest names in international air travel, and we see it as the start of a partnership that will develop into a full codeshare agreement later in the year.”

Gokhan Haciibrahimoglu, general manager of Scotland for Turkish Airlines, added: “Our partnership will allow both of our passengers to easily connect with the regional airports of north and west Scotland to over 304 destinations and 122 countries.;
