Global TMC Clarity has been ranked as the number one supplier for transient travel on the new Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC).

The SUPC is a membership-based buying organisation for universities and further education colleges that develops and manages framework agreements. Its members have access to more than 90 professionally tendered, EU-compliant contracts. By utilising these agreements, members can purchase competitively priced goods and services across a range of commodities.

The organisation conducts the tender process on behalf of its members and puts potential suppliers through a process to endure their suitability and expertise for the sector. Clarity says it scored highly throughout the qualifying criteria and came top on quality and pricing.

CEO Pat McDonagh commented: “This is a great result for Clarity and SUPC members. We pride ourselves on quality and service, so to be recognised as a leader in these areas is really rewarding.”

The announcement comes after Clarity acquired Ian Allan Travel, a specialist in academic travel.

McDonagh added: “We have worked in higher education for some time now, as the sector compliments our core corporate strengths. With a centre of excellence in Stafford, the acquisition of Ian Allan Travel adds strong specialist teams in Shepperton and Bristol. Now ranking first on the SUPC framework we have committed to growing this specialist division of our business.”

Paul Casement, director of sales and account management, said: “We already worked closely with a number of academic institutions and the challenge of time and resources comes up frequently. Being able to offer universities an easy route to choosing the right travel management company for them is a great feeling, knowing we can build long, lasting partnerships in a sector where we already have a strong reputation.”

In addition, Clarity secured a place on the student groups framework and will be supporting SUPC members in their booking and facilitating of student travel.
