Travel management platform CWT has appointed Erik Magnuson to lead its new, dedicated air distribution initiative.
Magnuson, who is now VP of air distribution capabilities, was previously senior director of revenue management at the company, where he focused on growing CWT’s air fares offer. He joined Carlson in 2006, working in the US and Europe for Rezidor Hotel Group, Carlson Companies and Radisson Hotel Group (then known as Carlson Hotels Worldwide).
In his new role, Magnuson will further develop CWT’s existing private channel distribution agreements, airline engagements around the world and working relationships with GDSs on their specialist programmes.
Chief strategy and commerce officer Patrick Andersen commented: “Air distribution continues to change at a dramatic pace, and not just with the introduction of IATA’s New Distribution Capability (New Distribution Capability - a new system of technology standards to allow the distribution of airfares and ancillaries through third parties which is being developed by airline association IATA with...) programme, so we are looking to solve for future complexity now. Erik’s role is specifically designed to maintain our competitive edge in this area, by building and leading a dedicated CWT team to deliver and support innovation and development in the future distribution of air fares and content to our customers’ travellers.”
CWT said it will give a further update on its air distribution services at the end of September.
