CWT has revealed it has made its first successful live NDC booking through Amadeus Selling Platform Connect.
The ticket, issued on American Airlines, was done in an actual production environment, according to the travel management platform, and comes after Amadeus announced the addition of NDC connectivity to its Level 4 certified solution that has the ability to shop, book, pay and service tickets.
Erik Magnuson, VP of air distribution capabilities, commented: “This is a tremendous milestone in the NDC journey and is an early stage indicator of what can be achieved with industry and technology cooperation. While this is a hugely positive step forward to making efficient NDC consumption a reality for the business traveller, it is still early days. We need to continue to collaborate as an industry to ensure NDC standards and capabilities can solve for the complexities of corporate travel at scale.”
Gianni Pisanello, VP of Amadeus NDC-X, added: “It’s great to have CWT as part of our NDC-X programme, as a key partner that has been truly engaged from the programme’s inception. To ensure global adoption of NDC, it’s been crucial to work hand-in-hand with travel management companies like CWT so agents can access, compare, consume and service content via an NDC connectivity easily and with minimal disruption to their processes and systems.”
Neil Geurin, director of distribution strategy at American Airlines, said: “The core of American’s NDC strategy is to improve the customer experience no matter where our customers choose to shop. Today’s announcement by CWT is another key milestone for American in making our NDC-enabled content more broadly available to our customers.”
