Mobility marketplace Karhoo is planning to expand into the Nordic region to connect local taxi and private hire fleets with travellers.

Visits to the region have increased in recent year, with the number of bed nights growing 6-8.5 per cent since 2014, according to the Nordic Tourism Policy Analysis.

Karhoo’s platform brings together regulated, licensed taxi and private hire vehicle fleets from around the world and connects them to brands through a white-label solution that integrates into travel and leisure operators’ websites and apps. It currently claims to operate in 1,500 destinations across 125 countries.

The company is now looking to forge partnerships in the Nordics to increase its visibility in the market.

Co-CEO Nicolas Andine commented: “We have achieved great things in other markets and see huge potential in expanding into the Nordics. We want to partner with all local fleets and ensure they are able to access the vibrant tourist market that has seen a staggering rise in recent years. Through shared values of transparency, honesty and credibility, we are looking forward to partnering with established and licensed fleets and working with them to increase their access and competitiveness in the tourism market.”

The company’s plans follow partnerships with Iomob, iVcardo, Moses and SNCF that have seen the platform expand into several markets across Europe and the rest of the world.
